A little of my story.

I came to counselling through a long‑standing interest in people: the stories we carry, the ways we survive, and the moments when life asks more of us than we feel able to manage alone. With over 20 years of experience in substance misuse and recovery work, my counselling is shaped by an understanding of change, loss, resilience, and the impact of difficult life experiences.

I work with people facing recovery issues, grief, loss, identity struggles, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and major life change. Some people come with a clear issue they want to explore. Others arrive feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or aware that life no longer feels as it once did. You do not need to have everything neatly explained before beginning counselling. Often, the work starts with uncertainty, fragments, or a feeling that is hard to put into words.

Counselling, at its best, is two people trying to tell the truth about one life.

My aim is to offer a grounded, compassionate space where you can speak openly, make sense of difficult experiences, and begin to move towards change in a way that feels manageable and meaningful. Sessions are warm, honest, and free from judgement. We will usually begin with what feels most present for you and move at a pace that feels right. There is no script, no performance required, and no right way to start. You are welcome to bring whatever feels important, even if you are not yet sure why it matters.

How I work.

An integrative approach — drawing on what serves the person in the room.

  • Relational at the core

What happens between us in the room is the medium for the work. Honest, careful, attentive.

  • Integrative in practice

I draw on humanistic, person‑centred and psychodynamic ideas — choosing what suits the person, not the textbook.

  • Unhurried in pace

Some things only come into view when we slow down. There is time here to do that.

  • Practical when it helps

Insight matters; so does what you do on Monday morning. We hold both.
